Chamber Welcomes Lifting of Work Limit for International Students

The Greater Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce was pleased to hear that the federal government is temporarily lifting the limit on the number of hours international students are allowed to work each week, in order to address the ongoing labour shortage.

Previously, international students enrolled full-time were not allowed to work off-campus for more than 20 hours a week.

This pilot study will run from November 15, 2023, to December 31, 2023.

“The Chamber knows this change will assist in addressing our workforce challenge in the province,” said CEO Robert Godfrey. “We continue to be focused as an organization on encouraging governments at all levels to help the business community fill the many job vacancies that are hindering our economy.”

Our Chamber’s Workforce Focus Groups conducted earlier this year called on the government to remove this limit to help ease the labour shortage.
