New PEI Emergency Leave Retroactive to March 16, 2020
A new Emergency Leave is now available to Island employees, retroactive to March 16, 2020. In an emergency, an employee is entitled to an unpaid emergency leave of absence for the duration of the time when the employee cannot perform the duties of the employee’s position because of the emergency.
The amendment to the Employment Standards Act received Royal Assent on June 18th.
