Wage Rebate for Impacted Workers – Fiona Response (PEI)
The Wage Rebate for Impacted Workers – Fiona Response provides a 100 per cent wage rebate for businesses while closed due to power outage or significant physical damage which make operating impossible AND were not earning revenue.
Who is eligible for funding?
Eligibility criteria include:
- Eligibility period September 25 to October 8.
- Eligible while closed due to power outage or significant physical damage which make operating impossible AND were not earning revenue.
- Must be operating in PEI.
- Self-employed.
- Only PEI Employees are eligible.
- The business must be physically located on PEI.
- Wages covered under business interruption insurance or any other compensation program are ineligible.
* Seasonal businesses not operating during the period are not eligible.
What Level of Assistance is available?
- The rebate will be calculated at 100 per cent of payroll costs to a maximum of $25/hour, a maximum $1,000 per week for PEI employees, including wages and MERC’s during the period of time that the business was closed.
- Incorporated businesses that operate more than one eligible business establishment under a single corporate entity, may apply for a rebate for each business establishment.
How do I apply?

What do I need to apply?
To make an application, be prepared to provide business information including:
- Active Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Business Number (E.g. 12345 6789 RT001);
- Estimated number of employees the business will be claiming;
- Description of business operations;
- Description of how Fiona damages impacted the business; and
- A monitored email address and contact information;
The application must be completed in full. Please keep your submission ID number for future claim reference.
How do I make a Request for Payment?
If an application is determined to be eligible, an email notification will be sent to the applicant, including details and instructions on the Request for Payment process.
- Appropriate payroll documentation must be provided to validate payroll costs.
When is the deadline for applications?
Applications will be accepted until November 8, 2022. All information required to make a claim must be submitted by November 30, 2022.
